The conference is hosted by the United Minority Contractors of North Carolina (UMCNC), the North Carolina state chapter of NAMC. Support for the conference comes from a number of public and private businesses: NC Department of Administration Office for Historically Underutilized Businesses, Office of the City Council of Charlotte, Visit Charlotte, Charlotte Chamber of Commerce, NC Institute of Minority Economic Development, Wachovia Bank Corporation, Skanska USA Building, Balfour Beatty Construction, Struever Bros. Eccles & Rouse, major construction companies, minority companies and the state’s university system.
“Building the Foundation for Excellence and Opportunity”
is the conference theme that underscores NAMC’s long-standing mission to address the needs and concerns of minority contractors throughout the nation. Attendees and sponsors can expect to be empowered by an exciting agenda of workshops, exhibits, guest speakers and activities incorporating education, inspiration and business development.
Special emphasis will be given to college scholarship awards for students pursuing careers in the design and construction industry. Another highlight of the conference is a special brunch honoring Women in Construction.
The “Queen” City of Charlotte provides the perfect ambience of diverse opportunities for conference-goers to meet and get to know one another. Included in the regular agenda are a scheduled golf outing, Big Chill Jazz reception, a Spa Indulgence with a Purpose, a White Water Rafting Challenge of NAMC chapters and several sponsored hospitality suites.
